Sofie’s Jewish/Catholic baby blessing
Here is beautiful Sofie! I also had the honor of performing her brother Max’s ceremony a couple of years back. The second photo shows some of the things we used for the blessing—a candle for the candle lighting symbolizing the emergence of the light of her soul onto this world, a kiddush cup for the blessing over the wine, a bowl for the baptism, anointing oil and a bell to begin and end the ceremony. As with all my ceremonies the family chose every ritual, blessing, prayer and reading. This family chose to honor the grandparents and appoint godparents. Sofie was given a Hebrew name honoring her great grandparents and the generations were called. We also did a special blessing of the siblings. And this was just the beginning…. Oh how I love the little ones! Sofie, you are a gift and a wonder.
