Exactly what I had been searching for…

Posted on: July 31st, 2012 by Susanna

Dear Rev. Susanna,

Thank you so much for yesterday.  You really created the perfect blessing day for Jerry, Jordan and I.  We received so many wonderful compliments and words from everyone there. Most importantly, it was exactly what I had been searching for.  I’m so grateful that we found each other.

Big hug,

Blessing Jordan Grace

Jordan and Papa on the throne

This weekend we blessed Jordan Grace.  Here she is with her Daddy and me at Landmark on the Park.   It was a joyous event filled with sanctity, meaning and family participation.    In the words of her father, “Born out of love, sacrifice and courage, she was a miracle.”   Theirs  is an inspirational story.  True to her name, she is  Jordan full of God’s grace.   Angels have been watching over her and her family.  It was truly an honor to stand by their side.   (P.S. Those are Daddy’s glasses she’s chewing on.  Baby’s teething :-)

The godmother dressing the baby for her special day

In Italian and Polish Catholic traditions, the godmother dresses the baby in preparation for her special day.   Here mommy is helping too, while I am just enjoying the sweetness of the moment!

Baby Naming Certificates

Baby Naming Certificate Upon Our Altar

There are all sorts of beautiful baby naming certificates! Here are two versions of Jewish baby naming certificates, one for a little girl and one for a boy whose blessings I’ve performed.  In European Jewish tradition, the baby is named after a family member who has passed.  To have a name is to announce one’s uniqueness.  To have a name is to belong to a family.
Hebrew names are rich with meaning.  In this case, Ora means ”light”.   Utterly beautiful.

I am so proud of Brett Deutsch of Gotham Family Photos!

I am so proud of Brett Deutsch of Gotham Family photos. He ran the trialtalon here in NYC thereby raising almost 10,000 dollars for blood cancer research.  One of the ribbons he is wearing is in honor of my father who died of lymphoma.   He came in 160/373 in his age group and 942/2363 out of males overall.   This was his first endurance sport— and he just had knee surgery last year!  So hooray, Brett!
